Our Story

The Permian Basin Oilman’s Bass Invitational (PBOBI) began in 1995 with the intent of promoting camaraderie between oilfield workers. Going beyond a weekend of fun and fishing, PBOBI made the event a charitable fundraiser.

The board selected the West Texas Chapter of the Make-A-Wish Foundation as the beneficiary of the tournament’s proceeds. After seven years, the tournament expanded its reach to include the New Mexico Chapter.

Associating the tournament with the children of the Make-A-Wish Foundation has made participation in the PBOBI an enriching and rewarding experience.

From 112 Teams to an Annual Tradition

In its first year, the PBOBI consisted of 112 teams. Through the gifts and donations of team members, sponsors and volunteers, the tournament has helped grant the wishes of hundreds of extraordinary children served by Make-A-Wish.

Why We Do What We Do

The PBOBI brings together the oil and gas community for a shared passion — fishing — and a greater purpose: supporting Make-A-Wish.
